As this is a brand new Championship for 2006 we appreciate your understanding and support with the licensing procedure/structure. Rest assured that the standards and criteria required to gain any level of D1 National License are not set to deter you from entering D1GB events.
Our aim is to ensure you and your fellow drivers will have the correct competition ability and standard of driving that are necessary to actively support you and help you achieve your goals within D1 both Nationally and Internationally.
There are three types of license recognised worldwide by D1. These are :
D1 International License
D1 National License
(D1GB National License Application Form)
D1 National Provisional License
(D1GB National Provisional License Application Form)

For 2006 a maximum of thirty five D1 National Licenses will be issued by the D1GB, which will be issued prior to the first event that is scheduled for May 2006.

Where can I go to be tested for a D1 National License?
The remaining 2006 licenses will be issued during the season to drivers who have gained a provisional license as listed below, these provisional licenses subject to conditions being met can see drivers being issued with a full National Licence for the remainder of the 2006 Championship.
Where can I go to be tested for a D1 National Provisional License?
Drivers must attend the D1GB hosted D1 National Provisional licensing test events that will be held in conjunction with various other professional Drift training schools that will be running throughout 2006. Officials who represent the D1GB for licensing matters will conduct the test and if the standards have been met, and the relevant skill level observed, the driver will be issued with a D1 National Provisional License allowing them to compete in the next two available D1GB rounds.
How and where can I use my D1 National Provisional License?
The license is valid only for entry into the D1 National Provisional category of D1GB. If you proceed past your practice and qualifying stages then you will have the opportunity to drive against the D1 National License holder drivers.
A maximum of ten drivers will be allowed to enter the D1 National Provisional class at each D1GB event.
If more than ten drivers apply for an event then the decision for entry will be made by D1GB officials.
How long does my D1 National Provisional License last?
This can be used for two D1GB events only.
If you have not achieved D1 National status by this time you will have to retake the D1 National Provisional License test.
Exceptions may be made at the discretion of D1GB.
I have D1 National Provisional License, when can I expect to receive a D1 National License?
If you achieve a top sixteen placing (qualify for the Tsuiso) in a D1GB National section of a D1GB event then you will receive a season long D1 National License that will allow you to enter further D1GB events as a D1 National License holder.
How much will my license cost me?
The Licensing costs below are solely for the issuing of Licenses and do not include any costs incurred by the Licensing event holder/s.
The issuing of a D1 National License is £27.50 for 2006.
The issuing of the D1 National Provisional License is £15 for 2006 and lasts for two D1GB rounds.
Any replacement licenses issued will incur an admin charge of £15.
Please note that the criteria for the issuing of a license to the driver is a completed application form, two passport sized photographs and the relevant license issuing fee.
How long is my License valid for?
All licenses are issued on a yearly basis and run for one calendar year only.
I have another License from a different Drift Series/Championship, can I use it?
Unfortunately not. Only Licenses issued by the D1GB or D1GP, and gained at D1GB or D1GP sanctioned test events, can be used at any D1GB or D1GP events.
I have a competition license issued by another licensing body not Drift related, can I use it?
Unfortunately not. Only Licenses issued by the D1GB or D1GP, and gained at D1GB or D1GP sanctioned test events, can be used at any D1GB or D1GP events.
We do appreciate that gaining a competition license means you have the required standards and abilities to compete ‘on-track’ but, as Drifting requires techniques differing somewhat from general motorsport you will have to progress through the licensing test events.
Please be assured this is in no way derogatory to you as an individual or your licensing body, but by already holding a motorsport license you can understand we must ensure drivers have a certain level of competence and understanding before entering a Drift event.
Will my D1 National License allow me to enter D1GP events in the UK and abroad?
The D1 National License will allow entry into any D1GP event held in the UK.
To hold a D1 National License does not automatically guarantee entry into a D1GP International event.
At this point in time discussions are underway at D1 Corporation headquarters regarding the criteria for D1 National License holders competing outside of the UK at other D1 National and D1GP events.
Please keep checking back on this section of the website as it will be updated or alternatively contact a D1GB official for further information.
Criteria
All D1 licenses must be shown at the drivers sign-on at each event by the driver.
Drivers must hold a valid motor car driving license for there respective country of origin/issue.
Failure to produce a valid motor car driving license prior to a licensing event will exclude the driver from achieving the required D1 License.
Failure to produce a valid motor car driving license prior to a D1GB/D1GP event will exclude the driver from entering the D1GB/D1GP event.
D1 licenses are issued to confirm that the driver is capable of performing at a level required and has been examined by an official of the D1GB or D1GP. The license issue does not give automatic right to event participation.
Licenses are valid for drivers which comply to the rules and regulations of the Championship. If these rules and regulations are broken or the driver acts in a way which is deemed reckless, dangerous or publicly damaging to the Championship whether inside or outside of a competition, we reserve the right to revoke the licence and suspend the driver and or team from future events.
D1 National proposed licensing system for 2007
Any driver who has scored points in the 2006 D1GB National Championship (a top 16 position) will automatically be awarded a D1 National License to compete in D1GB for 2007.
In the event that less than 35 drivers hold licenses for 2007, a drivers search will be held to determine the remaining D1 National License holders.
Please note: All information contained within this document is subject to change at the discretion of D1GB or D1GP, and if such changes are to be made you will be advised in advance.
